Uncertainty

2/28/23, 10:00 PM

Uncertainty is uncomfortable - but most of us don’t face it alone.
When life feels up in the air, we lean on family, stability, a place that’s still ours at the end of the day. Even in the unknown, there’s usually something steady holding us.
For youth coming out of care, and for the families who open their homes to them, uncertainty carries a different weight.
It can mean not knowing where you’ll sleep in a few weeks.
Not knowing if the place you’re in is temporary.
Not knowing who will still show up when things shift again.
For the families stepping in, it can mean loving a child fully while not knowing how long you’ll have them… or how to prepare for what comes next.
Uncertainty, in this space, often comes without a safety net.
As graduation approaches for many of these youth, that unknown becomes very real - and very urgent.
This is where community matters.
Showing up doesn’t require having all the answers. Sometimes it just means being willing to stand in the gap - offering stability, resources, or even just consistency when everything else feels uncertain.
Because uncertainty hits differently when you don’t have somewhere safe to land.
